Meet Hassan: Visidon’s Imaging Software Engineer

I like working at Visidon because of the work-life balance here. People care about your free time and your vacation and your well-being, which is one of the most important things that one should consider in their career.

I am Mohammad Hassan Sadeghein, an imaging software engineer at Visidon. I got my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of KNTU in Iran. Then for my Master’s, I moved to Oulu to pursue my studies at the University of Oulu. I’m still a student and currently, I’m doing my master’s thesis.

It was in my second year of studies that I started looking for jobs in industries. From the first day, I knew that I won’t be continuing researching at the university to start my PhD. So, I started applying to many companies whether in Oulu or other cities in Finland. After a couple of months and interviewing with a few companies, my friend Amir, suggested applying for Visidon. It was during that time that I got accepted from two companies, Visidon and an indie game studio in Helsinki. Since I remember, I have been interested in low-level programming, and I knew that in Visidon they were working on image processing algorithms and running them on smartphones, so that was a good opportunity for me to work on something I like and get myself a better programmer. Eventually I decided to accept Visidon’s offer, and I started working at the company in January 2021.

When I first got into Visidon, I was assigned to work more on memory management parts which made me more experienced about that specific part, also I got more familiar with the company and the way that things are working. People here in Visidon are friendly. My managers would understand the situation of the employees and they communicate to solve their problems.

After a couple of months, I started working on optimization part. I worked on DSPs to make some algorithm faster by taking advantage of them. Everything about that was very new to me and everyday working on it was a new challenge. It was a nice opportunity for me to learn new things from the subjects I was keen to work on. Since I was a newbie, I had to ask many questions from my colleges and supervisors, I would really appreciate the atmosphere there which help me to go around and ask what I need freely.

I had a background in computer graphics, my manager decided to give me a task to work on OpenCL. I would say that was the best part of my career because I have always wanted to work on parallel computing in industries.

After that, I started working on parallel computing to enhance our algorithms in terms of speed and power usage. Since I had a background in computer graphics, my manager decided to give me a task to work on OpenCL. I would say that was the best part of my career, because I have always wanted to work on parallel computing in industries. I’m still working in this part and learning more new things every day. It’s been a valuable experience that not in many companies I could have gained.

At Visidon I could learn more about things that I loved which I had no chance learning them in any other places.

I like working at Visidon because of the work-life balance here. People care about your free time and your vacation and your well-being, which is one of the most important things that one should consider in their career. In my free time, I usually start talking with my colleagues and sometimes we play ping pong which is really fun. At Visidon I could learn more about things that I loved which I had no chance learning them in any other places. Most of the people in Visidon are young as in my age with a mixture of older generation which are more experienced. This mixture of people helped me a lot to be able to communicate and make friends with people here and get pushed to learn more and more.
